Prop Research Unit Changes: A Redenomination Is Not a Windfall
A redenomination can change quantity and quoted price while preserving a modeled economic value. Match identifiers and the exact conversion ratio before comparing snapshots. A much larger new unit price alone does not establish a gain.

Write the conversion direction explicitly
For a fictional asset change, define 1 new unit as 1,000 old units. A supplied holding of 2,500 old units converts arithmetically to 2.5 new units. Reversing the ratio would create a very different and incorrect quantity for this defined case.
Keep original and replacement asset IDs, conversion record and effective time. A reused ticker is not sufficient identity. This article does not describe a current migration or establish that any particular evaluation supports either fictional asset.
Compare value only after the units match
At a supplied old price of 0.02 quote units per old unit, the original value is 50. With a matching new price of 20 per new unit, the converted holding is also worth 50. Quantity fell and unit price rose, with no gain in this simplified value comparison.
If the new observation is 21 rather than 20, the modeled value becomes 52.5. That 2.5 difference is a separate supplied price-change scenario, not evidence that the conversion itself generated a thousandfold return. Fees or missing distributions would need additional records.
| Record | Quantity ×price | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Original holding | 2,500 ×0.02 | 50 quote units |
| Matching converted holding | 2.5 ×20 | 50 quote units |
| Separate new-price scenario | 2.5 ×21 | 52.5 quote units |
| Conversion ratio | 1 new =1,000 old | Unit relation, not a return |
Keep account classification separate
The related resource retains this site’s earlier redenomination reconciliation. A Singapore diary can display the event time locally without changing the ratio. An actual account review needs the provider’s booked movements and valuation treatment before assigning a performance effect.
The optional sponsored HashHedge link offers current programme information. No token is moved or converted, and no migration or account result is verified. The example gives an explicit unit check rather than a trading recommendation or expected windfall.
